Forward motion, part 1.

In August 2011, I took a job at the Colvin Recreation Center. I was told I would be teaching kickboxing and doing personal training. I’d had one 1-hour training over how to teach kickboxing, and a had become a certified personal trainer, though I had never actually trained a client in my life. But, I decided that if I wanted this job, I would have to get out of my comfort zone and just do it. Little did I know that in April of 2013 I would still be working there and that I would be crying at the thought of having to leave my job. This has honestly been the experience of a lifetime. I’ve had 2 amazing supervisors, made countless lifelong friends, and changed numerous lives through teaching and training. How can you compare anything to that?

Tonight, at my very last staff meeting I received an award for “Outstanding Leadership”. I cannot express how thankful I am for this and I am so blessed to work in such an amazing setting that gives me the opportunity to reach out and always do more. So for that, I thank you all. This picture doesn’t even begin to wrap up all the amazing experiences I’ve had during the past 2 years, but it does highlight a few. I have had the opportunity to teach kickboxing, which made me into the instructor I am today, become a Les Mills Body Pump instructor, and train an amazing group of clients. These last 3 weeks are so bitter sweet. I will be passing the torch to some amazing co-workers and I know that the only direction this department is going is UP!
